Vocational Rehabilitation Services

Odyssey Services Corp offers comprehensive Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) services, including Individual Tutoring, Supported Education, Trial Work Experience, Work Adjustment Training, Vocational Assessments, Job Development and Retention, Rehabilitation Instructional Services, Job Training, Career Exploration, Small Business Enterprises, Remedial Training, and Pre-Employment Transition Services (PreETS). These services focus on preparing individuals for competitive employment and increasing their independence.

  • If you dream of launching your own business, this service is for you! The purpose of this service is to provide consultation services to assist cliental in establishing independent self-employment goals, developing business plans, and implementing successful practices.

  • For individuals requiring a specialized, extensive vocational assessment. This evaluation requires either on-the-job assessments or simulated work assessment, which involves a real job task that exists in industry that should demonstrate the client’s ability to do the task successfully. This is a short-term service, less than 8 hours.

  • Career Exploration services consist of exposure to essential facets of the workplace. This service is designed to increase a client’s informed choice and career decision-making abilities, enabling our clients to select a goal commensurate with abilities, capabilities, and interests. Research different career fields, qualifications and skill requirements for various jobs by conducting informational interviews, shadowing & more. Gain a greater perspective on current employment opportunities with local businesses throughout the State of Arizona.

  • In this 4-week course, learners become equipped to conduct a job search within the clerical work force in an office or retail setting.

    Classes are daily and learning objectives include the following:

    • Interpersonal professionalism

    • Using and troubleshooting common office equipment

    • Using common office software

    • Using templates

    • Effective presentations

    • Creating and maintaining customer databases

    • Written communications

    • Mailing and shipping

    • Math and invoices

    • Job searching and interviewing skills

  • Service goal: Our job development service is for those who have achieved educational and vocational skills necessary for employment in the community.

    We have an 80% success rate with employment.

    Our job development service includes:

    • Direct assistance in developing job searching/seeking skills

    • Resume written by technical writers

    • Assistance with completion of job applications

    • Mock interviews

    • Dress for success

    • Transportation to interviews

    • Positive feedback

    • Matching vocational goals with appropriate employers

    • Carved out positions

    • Accommodations evaluations

  • Service Goal: Prepare clients for successful competitive employment.

    Some of our work adjustment training (WAT) includes:

    • Jobs customization to client vocational goal

    • Time limited (three months)

    • Community based

    • Paid/unpaid positions

    • Individual services with 100% staff involvement

    This service is intended for clients to develop short term skills in natural work settings throughout our local communities.

    Note: This service not intended as job development/placement or situational assessment.

  • Individuals learn basic skills that they must possess to be successful at work. Work readiness skills are also known as soft skills, employability skills, or job readiness skills they are practiced in community businesses.

  • Rehabilitation Instructional Services aim to help individuals with severe disabilities achieve increased independence through personalized rehabilitation plans, offered in individual or group settings.

    Orientation and Adjustment to Disability Services

    This service helps clients understand their disability and its impact on living and working independently. It includes developing social skills, self-help abilities, self-confidence, and problem-solving. Clients learn personal habits, responsibility, decision-making, and how to use community disability-related services (e.g., Arizona Long Term Care, Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System, Arizona Department of Behavioral Health Services).

    Orientation and Mobility Training Services

    These services teach safe travel techniques, how to follow directions, communication skills for public interaction, and emergency telephone use.

    Independent Living Skills Development Services

    This service covers personal appearance, hygiene, organizing for school or work, personal safety, medication management, using adaptive aids, managing personal care attendants, financial planning, budgeting, and meal planning.

    Note: These services do not cater to RSA clients with hearing or vision impairments, provide job development, vocational assessments, or therapeutic counseling.

    Manual Adaptive Communication Training

    This service focuses on teaching American Sign Language (ASL) to VR Clients with hearing loss. It includes minimal sign language vocabulary, sign formation (handshape, position, orientation, movement), and grammatical elements (use of sign space, verb agreement, facial expressions).

  • Supported Education Services

    Supported Education services are instructional activities that prepare a client for the education or training necessary to successfully achieve employment.

    Our Supported Education Services include:

    • Assisting clients in one-on-one educations or training goals

    • Exploring educational goals

    • Orientation to post secondary programs

    • Learning to advocate for accommodations

    • Organizational skills needed for post secondary programs

    • Learning how to use post secondary sites to monitor grades/progress

    • Scheduling classes

    • Obtaining financial assistance

    • Learning how to obtain private funds

    • Post secondary resources

    • Tutoring

    • Social events

  • Service goal: To provide one-on-one educational tutoring services. Services are provided at client’s home, library, or post secondary program settings.

    Some of our individual tutoring services include:

    • GED programs

    • Traditional

    • Online programs

    • Dental

    • Medical

    • Liberal Arts: college courses

    • Reading

    • Entry level tests

    • Match courses: all levels

    • English courses

  • Service goal: Individuals with the most significant disabilities will receive intensive support concerning employment.

    Some of our supported employment services include:

    • Intensive support at the worksite

    • Obtaining employment

    • Retaining employment

    • Learning how to adjust work environment

    • Learning work skills

    • Job coach at work site

    • Assistance with learning transportation to work site

    • Carved out positions

    • Job accommodations

    • Working on social skills

    • Follow-ups with employer

    This service would continue with long-term, extended supported employment.
